Pitlochry Travel Tips We thought we would detail some of the means of transport that you can use to get to Pitlochry.

By car
Pitlochry is on the main A9 Scottish trunk road system so it is easy to travel by car to Pitlochry. You will find the roads relatively free of traffic compared to the big towns and cities in the south. Our equivalent of a traffic jam is being stuck behind a caravan or tractor.

National Buses Coaches travel from Glasgow and Edinburgh in the south to Pitlochry and from Inverness in the north. www.citylink.co.uk Local Buses run from Pitlochry to the rest of Highland Perthshire (:) Tel 01796 472290 for information

Air flights
Three of Scotland's principal airports are within easy driving distance.

Edinburgh Airport is probably the easiest international airport to get to and from Pitlochry. The thing to beware of is Edinburgh City rush travel in the morning or evening rush to and from the city. There are two routes to Highland Perthshire one is over the Forth Road Bridge and the other is via Stirling. The Forth Road Bridge route is probably the quickest route to Pitlochry so long as there are no road works on the Bridge and the city rush is not on in the evening.

Glasgow Airport is on the south side of Glasgow which means one has to drive on the M8 right through the middle of Glasgow. Again, you may wish to avoid the city traffic at peak times. If the traffic is non existent and the roads are clear driving time will take about 1 hour 45 mins, with heavy traffic add up to another forty minutes.

Inverness Airport does not take many international flights, but cheap internal flight operators use Inverness so you may be able to get a better deal by flying to Inverness. The drive time from Inverness to Pitlochry is of the order of 1hour 30 minutes.
